Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide at the lobby and begin your half-day tour. This morning city tour will include Bangkok’s famous temples: Wat Traimit, known for its housing of the 5.5 ton Golden Buddha image, Wat Po, famous for the 45 meters long Reclining Buddha image and Wat Benachamabophit, known as the Marble Temple. Return to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

This morning, visit the Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park is an eco-friendly, naturally built; outdoor museum park that introduces and explains the unique steps involved in making our much talked about paper products from elephant poop fibers! The interpretive walking tour through our lush gardens brings visitors through eight different pavilions explaining each stage of our fascinating process from poo collection to rinsing to final product assembly. Visitors are encouraged to pull up a stool, roll up their sleeves and join with our talented artisans and guides and participate in our head-turning process! Complemented by the presence of rich graphics and signage, visitors will also be introduced to Chiang Mai’s long and rich history with traditional papermaking and handicrafts production. In the evening enjoy a typical Northern style Kantoke dinner with dance performances.

Sightseeing in Vientiane (8 hours)
The capital city of Laos, Vientiane, still feels like a sleepy city with relaxed charm, tree-lined boulevards, beautiful temples and colourful markets. Tour the many highlights of the city, including Pha That Luang, a gleaming golden stupa which is perhaps the most important national monument in Laos; Ho Pha Keo, the formal royal temple, now a museum with beautiful examples of Buddhist sculpture; Wat Si Saket, Patuxai, a monumental arch inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, but executed with Lao motifs. Visit Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise (Cope) and Wat Si Muang. End your day at the Talaat Sao, or the “morning market” (actually open all day), the best place to buy traditional Lao fabrics.

Luang Prabang

Excursion by boat to Tham Pak Ou Caves (5-6 hours)
Travel up the Mekong River to the steep limestone cliffs overlooking the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers, home to the Tham Pak Ou Caves. These extraordinary caves are filled with Buddha images of every style and material imaginable. On the way to Pak Ou Cave, stop at Ban Xang Hai Village (If time permitted, open 6.00 am – 15.00 pm and closed on Buddhist holidays), a local village famous for the production of lao lao, the local rice wine whisky.
Sightsee in Luang Prabang, then visit Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Visunalat (Wat Visoun) and That Makmo. Continue on to visit Wat Aham, an old temple known for its two enormous banyan trees.
Afterward, visit Mount Phousi for sunset. Climb 328 steps starting from the entrance on the opposite side of National Museum, or 410 steps on the other side of Khan River to the small temples atop Phou Si. The hill is 150m high and sits in the middle of the town, offering beautiful views over the temples and river.
Day 19
Luang Prabang

In the morning, visit a local market to see the bustle and activity of the early morning. Continue to the National Museum (Royal Palace), a modest but graceful building which combines traditional Lao and French beaux-arts motifs. This turn-of-the century royal residence has been preserved as it was when the royal family last lived here and provides unique insights into the history of Laos. Then, visit Hor Phra Bang. Hor Phra Bang was built to enshrine the Phra Bang Buddha, the most highly revered Buddha image in the country. The image after which the town of Luang Prabang is named is now housed in a richly ornamented shrine. According to Laos legend the image was made in Sri Lanka almost 2,000 years ago. Judging from its style, it likely dates from the 14th century. The Phra Bang image was given to Fa Ngum, the first ruler of the Lan Xang Kingdom in 1353 by the King of Angkor. On two occasions during the following centuries the image was taken to Thailand by Siamese invaders. In 1867 it was returned to Laos. Afterwards, visit Wat Mai. Excursion to Kuang Si Waterfalls (3 hours) From Luang Prabang, travel by vehicle to to Kuang Si Waterfall. This waterfall is located in a perfect natural setting near Luang Prabang, this multi-tiered waterfall tumbles over limestone formations into a series of turquoise pools. Enjoy swimming in the clear water or just relaxing in the natural environment. Visit a local village (Ban Ou or Ban Na Ouane) on the way, before returning to Luang Prabang by vehicle.

Luang Prabang – Hanoi, Vietnam

Transfer to the airport and fly to Hanoi, city of lakes, shaded boulevards and public parks. Transfer to your hotel.

Today, your visit will include Hoan Kiem Lake in the city center and the Temple of Literature dedicated to Confucius. After lunch, visit a museum and return to your hotel. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner.
Day 22
Hanoi – Ha Long Bay
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Morning departure for Halong Bay. After check-in on your “junk” boat, start cruising amongst thousands of islands emerging from the Gulf of Tonkin. Visit Dinh Huong and Ga Choi islands and Songsot cave (or similar). Lunch and dinner on board.

Ha Long Bay – Hanoi – Hue

Breakfast on board. Continue cruising in the morning before your departure by road to Hanoi airport for your flight to Hue. Arrive and transfer to your hotel.

Visit the Old Imperial City modeled after the Forbidden City of Beijing, the Thai Hoa Palace, and the Halls of the Mandarins. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Perfume River and visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. Continue cruising to the Imperial Tomb of Minh Mang, a majestic complex of courtyards, pavilions and temples.

Hue – Danang – Hoi An

Take the scenic route to Hoi An with spectacular landscapes and mountains. Stop in Danang and visit the Cham Museum, China Beach and the Marble Mountains before arriving in Hoi An.

Enjoy a walking tour through the cobbled streets to see the central market and the harbor. Visit a private house and its traditional setting. Continue to the Japanese Covered Bridge, built by the Japanese community to link the town with the Chinese quarters across the stream.

Hoi An – Danang – Ho Chi Minh City

Transfer to Danang airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh. Arrive and transfer to your hotel.

Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh City

Immerse yourself fully in the local culture of the Mekong Delta with a day out to rustic Ben Tre. A journey of about two and a half hours will bring you to a peaceful area of lush orchards, green rice paddies and coconut fields. Hop on a bike for a ride along the shady paths to visit the home of local antique collector, Uncle Six. Continue your two-wheeled exploration along rural pathways that wind their way alongside dense vegetation and small tributaries of the Mekong. Board a rowing boat and cruise along the small canals under the shade of the coconut trees. Then change your mode of transport to a motorised boat. After a delicious lunch of local specialties cooked by the host, visit some local workshops to see how rice paper and sticky coconut sweets are made.
Day 29
Ho Chi Minh City

Begin your tour with the historic city center. Pass by City Hall and the old Opera House (outside views only). Visit the Central Post Office. Afterwards, dive into modern history with a tour of the Reunification Palace, formerly the Independence Palace of the South Vietnamese president. Continue to the harrowing War Remnants Museum. After lunch, head out to Cholon (China town) and visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda and the Giac Lam Pagoda. Visit the Binh Tay Market and the Ben Thanh Market.
Day 30
Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi – Ho Chi Minh City
Breakfast, Lunch
Depart for Cu Chi. Visit the Cu Chi tunnels used during the Vietnam War, with 200km of underground galleries, an arms factory, living quarters, rural hospitals, and kitchens and command centers. Return to Ho Chi Minh and enjoy a walking tour of Old Saigon.
Day 31
Ho Chi Minh City – Siem Reap, Cambodia
Breakfast
Transfer to the airport and flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Arrive and transfer to your hotel. Today, visit the crown jewel of Khmer architecture – Angkor Wat. The temple complex of Angkor covers 200 acres and is probably the largest religious monument ever built on earth.

Morning departure to the temples of Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre. In the afternoon, excursion to Kampong Kleang with boat trip to the floating fishing villages.

Today, visit the Roluos group of temples and Ta Prohm, a most popular attraction of Angkor known as the “jungle temple”. Much of the jungle has not been cleared and it looks very much like the monuments would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled across them. In the afternoon, visit Angkor Thom, the Terrace of the Leper King and the Elephant Terrace.

Siem Reap – Bangkok, Thailand

Transfer to the airport for your flights to Bangkok. Transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.
